ABOUT THE PLAY

Lybov Ranyevskia comes back from Paris to her homeland, Russia, after the death of her Paris lover. As her debts increase,  Lopakhin, a former town farmer and landowner, suggests a plan to make the farm profitable. This involves the destruction of the large and beautiful cherry garden of the family, a large estate, unproductive but beautiful, which has belonged to the family for centuries.
